3TS Capital Partners Expands into the US; Sever Totia to Head US Ops

sever_totiaEuropean technology growth capital investor 3TS Capital Partners has expanded its operations into the US.

The firm opened a new office in Washington D.C. In conjunction with it, 3TS appointed Sever Totia as Partner to head US activities, new investments and participating in the development of the existing portfolio.
Totia is joining the boards of 3TS-backed companies Piano Inc. and Take the Interview Inc., and will also work with Catalyst Romania, a fund initially sponsored by 3TS Capital Partners, focusing on early stage investments in high growth tech companies in Romania.
He brings over 15 years of investment experience, most recently as Partner with Edison Partners, a growth equity firm that invests in East Coast based software and technology-enabled companies. At Edison, Totia focused on investments in enterprise software companies, having led fifteen financings and served on the board of eight Edison investments including Presidium (acquired by Blackboard), Notable Solutions (acquired by Nuance), Salsa Labs and VoxMobile.
Prior to joining Edison, he was with Lazard Technology Partners (LTP), a $400M venture fund. There, Totia co-led ten software investments, including companies such as Vocus, Managed Objects (acquired by Novell), Intellitactics (acquired by Trustwave), Cyveillance (acquired by QNetiq), BoxTone (acquired by Good Technologies) and Interwise (acquired by AT&T). Before joining Lazard in 2000, he held operating leadership roles at Primark, an equity research software company based in the D.C. area, which expanded to over $500M before being acquired by Thomson Financial.
Originally from Romania, Totia received his B.S. in Finance from Virginia Tech and is a CFA Charter holder. He also serves on the Board of Mid Atlantic Venture Association.
