Nucleus Raises $5.6M in Series A Funding

nucleusNucleus, a NYC-based developer of connected home anywhere intercom device, raised $5.6m in Series A funding.

The round was led by the Alexa Fund with participation from BoxGroup, Greylock Partners, FF Angel (Founders Fund), Foxconn, Liquid 2 Ventures, and SV Angel.

The company, which has raised $10m in total funding, intends to use the capital to further national awareness of its product, and accelerate research and development efforts.

Led by Jonathan Frankel, co-founder and CEO, Nucleus provides an anywhere intercom device – which can be installed anywhere – for family members to interact through audio and video communication between rooms, home-to-home and mobile-to-device with its app for iOS and Android.  Nucleus incorporates Alexa Voice Service (AVS), which allows users to stream music from a number of platforms, connect with a wide range of compatible smart home products, and have access to a myriad of information and a number of Alexa skills.

In conjunction with the funding, the company has also announced the strategic acquisition of Ily, a home phone device, which will further its reach in the consumer connected home space.
