Flexport Raises $65M in Funding

Flexport-shipmentFlexport, a San Francisco, CA-based online freight forwarder, raised $65M in Series B funding.

Backers included existing investors Founders Fund, Bloomberg Beta, Felicis Ventures, First Round Capital, Susa Ventures, Yuri Milner, and others and new investor Joe Lonsdale of 8VC. In conjunction with the funding, Trae Stephens from Founders Fund will join the board.

The company – which has raised $94m in total funding – intends to use the funds to hire new people and continue its international expansion.

Led by Ryan Petersen, CEO, Amos Elliston, CTO, Ben Braverman, CRO, Sanne Manders, COO, Flexport is a licensed freight forwarder that uses people and a web-based app to allow users to manage international trade and get access to real-time visibility of shipments.
The company, which offers services in air freight, ocean freight, trucking, warehouse & fulfillment, customs brokerage, and cargo insurance, recently opened offices in Amsterdam, New York, and Hong Kong in addition to headquarters in SF.
