Rev1 Ventures Launches $22M Seed Fund

rev1venturesRev1Ventures, a seed-stage venture capital firm focused on the Great Lakes Region, launched a $22m fund.

Supported by The Ohio Third Frontier Pre-Seed/Seed Plus Fund Capitalization Program (which provided an $8m loan), Nationwide, The Ohio State University, Cardinal Health, Crane Group, Worthington Industries, The Columbus Foundation, AEP Ohio, Dispatch Printing Company, State Auto Insurance, IGS Energy, with investments also coming from the same Rev1 Ventures (which leveraged returns from prior investments in Columbus startups) and the management team, Rev1 Fund I plans to invest in a broad range of high-growth technology startups, including software, hardware, life sciences, alternative energy, and advanced materials.
Led by Tom Walker, CEO, Rev1 Ventures is dedicated to seed and seed-plus stage companies.
With initial investments of up to $1 million, it can lead or co-invest in larger financing rounds, which provide more substantial support to allow startups to invest in the market development and talent needed to innovate, build, and scale their products while also accelerating local job growth.
