Powerplant Ventures Closes $42M Venture Capital Fund

Los Angeles, CA-based venture capital firm Powerplant Ventures closed a $42m fund aimed at improving the global food system by investing in emerging plant-centric companies.

Founded in 2015 by Mark Rampolla, Kevin Boylan, T.K. Pillan, and Dan Beldy, the firm invests in companies that are re-architecting the global food system to deliver better nutrition in more sustainable and ethical ways by leveraging the power of plants.

With the fund closing, the team will play an integral role in the strategy, branding, team building, and operations for innovative companies in the food and beverage industry.

The current portfolio includes Hail Merry, REBBL, Thrive Market, Terravia, Hampton Creek, Treasure8, and Juicero.
