Bitfinder, a Palo Alto, CA-based maker of AWAIR, a product to improve indoor air quality, raised $4.5m in Series A funding.
The round was led by Altos Ventures with participation from Samsung Ventures.
The company will use the funding to create new revenue based on data from its Awair product and expand its presence into commercial buildings by working closely with telecommunications service providers and their clients like education institutions and hospitality services.
Founded in 2013 by Ronald Ro, CEO and Kevin Cho, CTO, Bitfinder Bitfinder makes AWAIR, a product that allows people to customize and improve indoor air quality. The product turns other air related products, such as humidifiers and ceiling fans, into smart devices powered by AWAIR’s backend, which uses advanced sensors to measure indoor temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide (CO2), fine dust particles (PM2.5) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including motion and light sensors, and then programs itself based on the custom settings input.
The company, which also has a satellite office in Seoul, has recently teamed up with Nest, Amazon Echo, and IFTTT to offer users different ways to interact with the data gathered from AWAIR and automate their other connected-home devices.
