Vector Capital Buys Intellectual Property Management Company Longitude Licensing

Vector Capital, a technology-focused private equity firm, acquired Longitude Licensing, a Dublin, Ireland-based intellectual property management company.

The amount of the deal – which builds on Vector’s acquisition of Ipvalue Management in 2014 – was not disclosed.

Founded in 2013 to acquire and commercialize a significant patent portfolio from Elpida, a global supplier of DRAM products prior to its bankruptcy in 2012, and led by Joe Villella, Longitude Licensing currently manages nearly 3,500 active patents and patent applications related to semiconductor memory and processing technologies.

Concurrent with its acquisition by Vector, Longitude entered into a strategic relationship with Ipvalue under which the latter will provide on-going services to support Longitude’s licensing programs.
