Online Charity Auction Platform CharityStars Raises €2M

charitystarsCharityStars, a Milan, Italy-based online charity auction platform, raised €2m in a new round of funding.

The round was led by 360 Capital Partners, with participation from FocusFuturo, A.S. Roma football player Stephan El Sharaawy, entrepreneuer Fabio Cannavale and Rancilio Cube.

The company intends to use the funds to scale to the US and China.

Led by Francesco Nazzari Fusetti, Manuela Ravalli and Domenico Gravagno, CharityStars operates an online charity auction platform opened to non-profit organizations, artists, and private collectors, who can auction their works and memorabilia and decide how much of the auction proceeds to donate to charity.
In 2015, the company’s online sales amounted to €1.8m. The most prominent auctions of the year included a lunch with Candy Crush’s Founder Riccardo Zacconi (sold for €25k), an artwork by Andy Warhol (€27k), a Valentino Rossi signed helmet (€15k) and a Barcelona football shirt with a personalized dedication from Lionel Messi (€11k).

The company, which also has offices in London, has just launched the Chinese version of the site.
