Digital Medicine Company Big Health Raises $12M

Big Health, a London, UK- and San Francisco, CA-based digital healthcare company, raised £9.15M ($12M) in new funding.

The round was led by Octopus Ventures with participation from Kaiser Permanente Ventures, returning investor Index Ventures, as well as Sean Duffy (CEO, Omada Health) and JamJar Investments. They join existing investors Esther Dyson and Peter Read.

The company intends to use the funds to extend reach and expand into mental health.

Co-founded by Peter Hames (an NHS Innovation Fellow) and Professor Colin Espie (University of Oxford), Big Health provides Sleepio, a digital sleep improvement program featuring Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, which is clinically proven to help overcome even long term poor sleep without pills or potions. Sleepio has been deployed to over 750,000 employees at US companies including Comcast, LinkedIn and Henry Ford Health System.
