NYC-Based Shared Housing Startup Common Raises $16M in Venture Capital

commonCommon, a NYC-based shared housing startup, raised $16m in venture capital funding.

The round was led by 8VC led with participation from Circle Ventures, the technology arm of the Milstein Family, LeFrak, Solon Mack Capital, Ron Burkle’s Inevitable Ventures and Wolfswood Partners.

The company will use the funds to continue to expand operations into NYC, San Francisco and Washington D.C.

Founded in 2015 by Brad Hargreaves, Common rents apartment buildings and then sublets rooms in curated units with a wide range of amenities such as free onsite laundry, Wi-Fi, a private garden, etc., in exchange of a flat, monthly fee.
The company, which is hiring in NYC, currently operates 3 locations.
