Xenoma Secures $1.7M in Funding

xenomaXenoma, Inc., a Japan, Tokyo- and Worcester, MA-based wearable electronics apparel startup, secured 185 M Yen ($1.7M) in funding.

The round was led by Beyond Next Ventures with participation from the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).

The company will use the funds to accelerate the path to bring e-skin products to the market.

Led by Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Dr. Ichiro Amimori, Xenoma leverages an e-skin product platform that combines traditional textile materials found in most performance wear with stretchable electronics and printable sensors to develop smart apparel that monitors a user’s motion, respiration, and body temperature remotely.
The apparel is waterproof, machine washable, and able to withstand active daily use.

In March, the company was also awarded a grant from the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) in the amount of 70M Yen ($661k) to further advance the development of system integration and end user applications.
