Shopper-Responsive Technology Company eyeQ Closes $3.5M Series A Funding

eyeQ, an Austin, TX-based shopper-responsive technology company, closed $3.5M Series A funding round.

The round was led by Align Capital, with participation from existing investors. In conjunction with the funding, Lisa Harris, managing partner of Align Capital, joined eyeQ’s Board of Directors.

The company intends to use the funds to for continued technology development, product enhancement and revenue pursuit.

Founded in 2012 by CEO Michael Garel, eyeQ personalizes the in-store shopping experience, using shopper-aware digital displays that interact with consumers, customize content to each, and recognizes and responds to emotion. Devices can cause almost any digital display to respond to age, gender, location, frequency of visit and emotion.
The SaaS based technology also provides stores and manufacturers with real-time intelligence about how different types of shoppers are responding, so they can learn and iterate to make each shopper’s experience better and better.
eyeQ is a showcase company for IBM, building its solution with BlueMix, IBM’s cloud platform, and utilizing Watson, IBM’s cognitive computing system.
