Purple Carrot Secures $5M in Debt Financing

ThePurpleCarrot-LogoPurple Carrot, a Boston, MA-based plant-based meal kit delivery service, secured $5m in debt financing.

WindSail Capital, a Boston-based investment firm focused on energy innovation and sustainability, provided the funds.

The company, which raised $3.8m in seed capital from investors including New Crop Capital, Stray Dog Capital, Mario Batali and others in 2015, will use the proceeds to increase consumer awareness for the brand.

Founded in 2014 by Andy Levitt, CEO, Purple Carrot is a meal kit delivery service that allows people to create plant-based meals at home. The company sends the fresh, pre-measured ingredients for seasonal recipes developed and tested by a team of chefs to consumers who subscribe to the service.

In the coming months, Purple Carrot plans to unveil a new Guest Chef series, a program which will feature notable chefs and influencers who will create customized plant-based recipes that will be incorporated in the company’s weekly menu offerings.
