Creema, a Tokyo, Japan-based handmade product marketplace, raised approx. $10m in venture capital funding.
Backers included Globis Capital Partners and existing investor KDDI Open Innovation Fund (the venture arm of KDDI).
The company intends to use the funds to strengthen development, marketing, and international expansion efforts.
Founded in 2010 by CEO Kotaro Marubayashi, Creema operates a handmade product marketplace that enables creatore to sell their original works and people to buy them works online. The marketplace, which facilitates the buying and selling process of items, currently features 60,000 creators exhibiting 2.4m original works.
