Unlockd Closes $AU15M Series A Round of Funding

unlockd_logoUnlockd, a NYC-based app that allows customers to receive rewards in exchange of ads, and special offers when unlocking their phones, closed a $AU15m Series A round of funding.

Backers included PLC Ventures, Peter Gammell, Sam Mostyn, Lachlan Murdoch, Radek Sali, and Greg Roebuck.

The company, which has Australian origins, will use the funds to continue to expand internationally, firstly launching in the UK.

Led by Matt Berriman, Unlockd allows customers to receive ads, content and special offers when they unlock their phones, in exchange for a discounted phone bill, bonus free data or other rewards. Major partners include Yahoo, Twitter, Facebook Audience Network, Dentsu Aegis, Starbucks, Grubhub & Hulu.
It is available in US and Australia.
The company has offices in New York, Seattle, Melbourne and London.
