Meltwater Buys Encore Alert

meltwaterMeltwater, a global provider of media intelligence solutions, acquired Encore Alert, a Virginia-based SaaS platform that uses artificial intelligence to sift through online information to derive critical insights to improve a company’s marketing and PR efforts.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

Founded in 2013 and led by CEO James Li, Encore Alert uses artificial intelligence to allow marketers at brands to automatically identify and act on emerging trends, PR crises, and important web mentions.
The company, which was backed by 500 Startups, HBS Angels, and NextGen Venture Partners, uses a proprietary algorithm to sort through billions of social posts —24/7—to identify trends, track interactions with important influencers, and gives users critical industry intelligence by sending alerts about only top priority conversations.

Meltwater will integrate Encore Alert’s proprietary technology into its social offering to allow its clients to accelerate their follower growth, increase engagement, drive referral traffic, and protect their brand reputations.

Led by Jorn Lyseggen, founder and CEO, Meltwater provides companies with a media intelligence platform to stay on top of billions of online conversations, extract relevant insights, and use them to manage their brand. The company serves 24,000 global clients via 50 offices located on six continents and also operates the non-profit Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST).
