Intercom Raises $50M in VC Funding

intercomIntercom, a San Francisco, CA-based customer communication platform, raised an additional $50m in funding.

The round was led by Index Ventures with participation from previous investors ICONIQ Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Social Capital.

The company, which has raised $116m, will use the funds to double headcount over the next year and continue investing in building new and existing products on the Intercom Platform.

Founded in 2011 by CEO Eoghan McCabe, Intercom provides a customer communication platform for internet businesses to communicate with customers personally, at scale, via integrated products for every team—including sales, marketing, product, and support.
The company now has over 10,000 paying customers in over 90 countries, ranging from startups like Expensify and Trunk Club to public companies like Rackspace and IBM.
It employs 250 people in San Francisco and Dublin.
