Intel Acquires Yogitech

Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) acquired Yogitech S.p.A., a San Giuliano Terme (PI), Italy-based expert in semiconductor functional safety and related standards.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

Founded in 2000 and led by Silvano Motto, CEO, Yogitech is a provider of services and solutions to silicon vendors and system integrators to help them meet their functional safety challenges via the faultRobust technology, which includes different product lines: fRMethodology (to provide a methodology to quantify the risks of integrated circuits failures in compliance with functional safety standards), fRTools (to provide EDA tools to enable customers to perform safety analyses and verification activities), fRTraining (to promote functional safety and its application to IPs, integrated circuits and electronic systems), fRIPs and fRSTL (to provide low-cost, low-power HW or SW safety architectures to cover permanent faults and soft-errors, detecting/avoiding common-cause and systematic failures).

The acquisition aims to increase Intel’s efforts in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which is used to enhance the safety of transportation and factory systems, robotics and autonomous machines for market segments like automotive, industrial and other IoT systems.

Following the close of the agreement, the Yogitech team, based in Italy, will join Intel’s Internet of Things Group.
