Influenster Closes $8M Funding Round

InfluensterInfluenster, a NYC-based product discovery and reviews platform, closed an $8m round of funding.

Ebates, the online cashback shopping and subsidiary of global Internet services company Rakuten, made the investment. In conjunction with the funding, Ken Hirschman, Ebates’ Vice President of Strategic Alliances, will join Influenster’s board of directors.

The company intends to use the funds to advance its product discovery platform and expand operations.

Founded by Elizabeth Scherle and Aydin Acar in 2010, Influenster is a product discovery platform and reviews site that enables consumers to find new products and get advice to make informed purchases. Members can explore the latest products, gain insight, pick up tips, and share opinions with others.

A community of over 1.7 million members can get access to user-generated content in the form of reviews, photos, questions asked and answers given, editorial content such as articles and videos, product experiences in the form of social sampling and digital challenges, as well as coupons and offers.
