Baidu Video, a Beijing, China-based spin-off from the search engine Baidu*, raised $155m in funding.
Backers included the same Baidu, Tianshen Yule, Shanghai New Culture Media Group, Softbank Asia Infrastructure Fund and Redpoint Ventures.
Led by Hu Hao, CEO, Baidu Video is a platform for professional generated video content, video search and content aggregation services.
Baidu, which trades on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the symbol “BIDU”, is a Chinese language Internet search provider. In addition to serving individual Internet search users, the company provides a platform for businesses to reach potential customers.
