Docker, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of an open platform for distributed applications, acquired Conductant, a stealth mode startup focused on building orchestration software.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
Led by Bill Farner, David Chung and John Sirois, Conductant was building out the Apache Aurora container orchestration software. Aurora is a Mesos framework for long-running services and cron jobs.
The acquisition will enable Docker to expand its expertise in building and operating large-scale, mission critical systems.
Docker is the venture capital company behind the Docker open source platform, which allows developers and system administrators to build, ship and run distributed applications. It is used by millions of developers across thousands of innovative organizations, including eBay, Baidu, the BBC, Goldman Sachs, Groupon, ING, Yelp, and Spotify.
