Saban Capital Group, Inc., a Los Angeles, CA-based private investment firm specializing in the media, entertainment and communications industry, has promoted Philip Han to Executive Vice President.
Han, who has been with Saban since April 2002, most recently served as the company’s Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer.
In this new role as Executive Vice President, Han will continue to oversee the strategy, design and implementation of the firm’s investment portfolio across equities, fixed income and alternative investments globally. He will also continue to lead the firm’s real estate division, which currently manages a portfolio of self-storage, student housing, retail and government office assets exceeding four million square feet in 18 states.
Before joining SCG, Han served as Vice President of Finance and Business Development for EYM Technologies, a venture-backed email infrastructure and development company. Prior to that, he worked as a Senior Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the firm’s Entertainment, Media and Communications practice.
Established by Haim Saban, and led by Adam Chesnoff, President and Chief Operating Officer, Saban is an investment firm specializing in the media, entertainment, and communication industries. The firm currently makes both controlling and minority investments in public and private companies and takes an active role in its portfolio companies.
Current private equity investments include:
– Univision (the premier Spanish-language media company in the US);
– Celestial Tiger Entertainment (a venture with Lionsgate and Astro, Malaysia’s largest pay TV platform, to launch and operate new branded pay television channels across Asia);
– MNC (Indonesia’s largest and only vertically-integrated media company); and
– Partner Communications (a leading telecommunications company in Israel).
The firm also operates Saban Brands LLC, which acquires, manages and licenses entertainment properties and consumer brands across media and consumer platforms globally, and Saban Films, which acquires and distributes independent feature films in North America.
