Nimble Collective, a Mountain View, CA-based creative platform for professional and aspiring animators, closed an $8.5m round of funding.
The round was led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA). In conjunction with the funding, NEA Venture Partner Greg Papadopoulos joined Nimble’s board while animated film industry veterans Mark Walsh, Eric Darnell and Peter Ramsey joined as advisors.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to advance its platform.
Co-founder by Michael Howse and Rex Grignon, Nimble Collective is developing a cloud platform that allows animators to collaborate, develop and distribute their creative content via production capabilities hosted in a secure cloud environment.
The system is expected to be available to select partners in the second half of 2016.
The company is also funded by the UCLA Venture Capital Fund, among others.
