MaaS Finland Raises €2.2M

maas-fi-logoMaaS Finland, a Helsinki, Finland-based mobility-as-a-service company, raised €2.2m in funding.

Backers included private investors and the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation Tekes.

The company, which expects to raise a second round in late autumn in an attempt to raise hundreds of millions, intends to iuse the funds to finalize the product and demonstrate it in three countries.

Founded in 2015 by Sampo Hietanen, CEO, MaaS Finland aims combine all the existing transport services into a single mobile application on the “single-ticket principle” and offer personalized transport plans tailored to customer needs.
Currently, there are three mobile service options available to consumers: one that combines several modes of transportation for a single trip; one that combines private car use with an extensive range of public transport services; and one that offers a comprehensive service for all transportation needs at a monthly rate.

The company is currently owned by Transdev, a French transportation company offering land, rail and passenger transport services (20%), Karsan Otomotiv Sanayii (20%) and Ticaret AS, a car-industry family of Turkey (20%). Hietanen holds a 10% stake in the company. Other shareholders include InMob Holdings of Cyprus; Neocard; Korsisaari; GoSwift; MaaS Australia; Goodsign; IQ Payments; and Delta Capital Force.
