Giphy Raises $55M in Series C Funding

Giphy, a NYC-based search engine for GIFs, raised $55m in Series C funding.

The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with participation from General Catalyst Partners, RRE, Betaworks, Lerer Hippeau Ventures, CAA and other existing investors.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations, increase the reach of the community and develop new products and partnerships.

Led by Alex Chung, Giphy allows people to search, share, discover and create GIFs.
The company says it grown grown over 500% in a year partnering with social networks, messengers and apps as wellas with studios in Hollywood, TV networks, music labels, production companies, sports leagues and thousands of other content partners to create GIFs.
Giphy’s app, GIPHY CAM, was named by Apple as one of the Best 25 apps in 2015 while the GIF Maker is used daily by partners like FOX, the NBA, Nike, and Paramount Pics.
