Bux Raises €6m in Venture Capital Funding

bux_logoBux, an Amsterdam, The Netherlands- and London, UK-based provider of a mobile trading app, raised €6m (approx. £4.7m) in venture capital funding.

The round was led by Holtzbrinck Ventures, with participation from with existing investors Orange Growth Capital and Velocity Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to hire new people, develop the platform and expand into England, Germany and Austria and other European countries.

Co-founded by CEO Nick Bortot, Egbert Pronk, Robbert Bos, and Joost van de Wijgerd, Bux is an app with a strong gamified part that allows beginners to start trading with virtual money in order to discover the stock market in a risk-free way. After that, they can choose to convert to real money. The app also features a social/educational part, which allows experienced traders to share their knowledge with beginners, discuss tips and tricks, etc.
In total, Bux has processed €2.7 billion in trade value.
The app has over 350,000 users.
