Arctic Sand Technologies Completes $19M Series B Funding

Arctic Sand Technologies, a Cambridge, MA-based provider of power conversion ICs, completed a $19M Series B funding.

The round was led by Murata Manufacturing Company, Ltd., with participation from GE Ventures, Northwater Capital and Arsenal Venture Partners.

Led by CEO Gary Davison and founder and Chief Scientist David Guiliano, Arctic Sand Technologies leverages technology born at MIT to manafacture ICs that enables more runtime, smaller batteries and thinner profile smartphones, tablets and Ultrabooks.
The first product is an LED backlight driver IC for mobile computing platforms, which increases power conversion efficiency by about 10% – in a 33% thinner form factor, and with no increase in circuit board footprint.
The company has product design centers in Cambridge MA and Santa Clara , CA, and sales / customer support offices in Silicon Valley and Taiwan.
