MariaDB Corporation, an Espoo, Finland- and Menlo Prk, CA-based provider of open-source relational database solutions, received $9m in equity financing.
Backers included Intel Capital and California Technology Ventures, among others.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate sales and advanced technology development.
Led by newly appointed CEO Michael Howard and CTO Michael “Monty” effective, MariaDB provides open-source database solutions for SaaS, cloud, and on-premises applications that require high availability, scalability, and performance. Built by the founder and core engineering team behind MySQL, MariaDB currently has over 9 million users in more than 45 countries, including global brands such as HP, Wikipedia, Virgin Mobile, and Booking.com.
