Insightec Secures $22M in Series D Funding

insightecInsightec, a Dallas, Texas- and Haifa, Israel-based provider of a non-invasive therapy platform, secured $22M in Series D round of funding.

Founded in 1999, Insightec has developed Magnetic Resonance guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) technology acting as a non-invasive therapy solution which is already adopted and used by physicians in more than 120 medical facilities around the world in an expanding number of neurosurgery, oncology and gynecology indications.

The company, which is privately held by GE Healthcare, Elbit Imaging, York Capital Management, GEOC Hengtong Investment Limited Partnership and MediTech Advisors, will now be led by newly appointed CEO Dr. Maurice R. Ferré, who brings over 20 years of experience in the medical device industry. Before being chairman of the board of Insightec, Ferré served as Chairman of the Board and CEO of MAKO Surgical Corp, a robotic surgical company that he co-founded in 2004. The company was IPO’d in 2008 and recently sold to Stryker Corp. for $1.65 billion in 2013.

Dr. Kobi Vortman, Insightec’s former CEO and Founder, will be taking a seat at the board and will continue to drive strategy, as well as the product roadmap.
