Frazier Healthcare Partners Creates Hawkeye Therapeutics

Logo_FrazierSeattle, Wash., and Menlo Park, Calif.-based healthcare-focused investment firm Frazier Healthcare Partners announced that Bob Baltera, Howard Dittrich, M.D., and Brian Farmer have joined the Life Sciences team as Entrepreneurs-in-Residence.

The group has formed Hawkeye Therapeutics, a search company focused on in-licensing and developing high-quality assets from pharmaceutical companies headquartered in San Diego, Calif.

Mr. Baltera is a pharmaceutical executive with business and product management experience. He was formerly Chief Executive Officer of Amira Pharmaceuticals Inc., which was acquired in 2011 by Bristol-Myers Squibb. Mr. Baltera also worked at Amgen, Inc. for 17 years, and held numerous senior management positions, including Vice President of Corporate and Contract Manufacturing.
Dr. Dittrich is a cardiologist with experience in clinical research and regulatory affairs. He has co-founded several companies, including NovaCardia, which was acquired in 2007 by Merck & Co. Dr. Dittrich has served as the Chief Medical Officer for multiple companies, including NovaCardia, Sequel Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and Sorbent Therapeutics.
Mr. Farmer is a corporate development executive. He has served as Vice President of Corporate Development and Operations at Sequel Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and also led Corporate Development at NovaCardia.
