UploadVR Closes $1.25M Seed Funding Round

uploadvrUploadVR, a San Francisco, CA-based virtual reality media company, closed a $1.25m seed funding round.

The round was led by Shanda Group, a $8 billion Chinese venture capital firm chaired by games industry veteran Tianqiao Chen, with participation from Joe Kraus, partner at Google Ventures, Philip Rosedale, founder of Second Life, Tony Parisi, co-creator of VRML, Greg Castle, a seed-investor in Oculus, and
Sunny Dhillon, VR expert and partner at SignaVC.

The company will use the funds to continue to grow with a number of new initiatives, including the expansion of content and the Jobs portion of the site as well as organize a number of events to be announced in the months to come.

Led by Taylor Freeman, CEO, and Will Mason, Editor in Chief, UploadVR is a media company dedicated to accelerating the growth of the virtual reality industry via a platform that produces industry driven events, covers industry news (uploadvr.com), and creates tools to connect the community.
