The Tab Raises $3M in Funding

The_TabThe Tab, a Cambridge, UK-based platform for student journalists, raised $3m in funding.

Balderton Capital made the investment.

The company intends to use the funds to expand across North America as well as to continue to build its technology platform.

Led by CEO George MarangosGilks and Editor in Chief Jack Rivlin, The Tab aims to build the largest reporting network in the world. This year, The Tab has published 2650 journalists, and their local stories have generated more than 5,000 pageviews on average.
The company, which opened an office of 16 editors in New York City in September, and now has 25 college sites in North America, including every Ivy League school, is developing a dashboard which identifies the most promising writers based on how their writing and traffic data stacks up against past users, and then invests in their talent.
The Tab’s US sites reached half a million uniques users in November, their first full month of publication.
