Build & Imagine Raises $1M in Funding

buildandimagineBuild & Imagine, a Berkeley, California-based toy startup, raised $1m in funding.

Backers included Mogility Capital and Gingerace Capital Partners as well as independent angel investors Anoobhav Singh, Sarah and Grant Webb, Susan and Armando Petruccelli, Lloyd Goldmark, John and Elizabeth Wilson, Vikram Sangha, and Alexander Muromcew.

The company will use the funds to distribute their line of magnetic building sets that inspire storytelling, called StoryWalls.

Founded by Laurie Peterson launched with a $30k Kickstarter campaign last year, Build & Imagine offers Build & Imagine StoryWall play-sets that contain illustrated scenes that children can build, decorate, and use as a backdrop for imaginative play.
Sets include dolls, illustrated building panels that combine magnetically to create endless combinations, and dozens of magnetic accessories to customize your scene.
The company, which also has the support of the UC Berkeley SkyDeck accelerator program, where it is housed in downtown Berkeley, is working with QVC, Amazon, Pottery Barn Kids, Kohl’s, Zulily, Learning Express and more during the holiday season.
