Ultrahaptics Raises £10.1M in Series A Funding

UltrahapticsUltrahaptics, a Bristol, UK-based developer and licensor of mid-air haptic technologies, raised £10.1m in Series A funding round.

The round was led by Woodford Investment Management with participation from existing shareholder IP Group plc (LSE:IPO), employees and other investors.

The company, which has raised £11.3m to date, intends to use the funds for continued development of its technology.

Led by Steve Cliffe, CEO, and Tom Carter, CTO, Ultrahaptics has developed technology that enables users to receive tactile feedback without needing to wear or touch anything. The technology uses ultrasound to project sensations through the air and directly onto the user. Users can ‘feel’ touch-less buttons get feedback for mid-air gestures or interact with virtual objects.
