CodinGame Raises $1.6M in Funding

codingameCodinGame, a Montpellier, France-based code learning platform, raised $1.6m in funding.

Backers included Isai and existing investors including angels from Seed4Soft group.

The company plans to use the funds to accelerate the US growth (and opens offices in San Francisco), strengthen its international presence to reach 1 Million developers within 1 year, and accelerate upcoming innovations on its technology platform.

Co-founded by Frédéric Desmoulins, CEO, Nicolas Antoniazzi, CTO, and Aude Barral, CMO, CodinGame provides a gaming platform that allows programmers from all backgrounds and levels to learn, improve your coding skills through video game-like programming puzzles.
An in-game Integrated Development Environment (IDE) with code completion, coloring, etc., allows users to write, test, and compile code directly into the browser. The puzzles can be solved in 20+ different programming languages (Java, C / C++, Python / Python 3, PHP, C#, Javascript, Go, Dart, Bash, Ruby, Scala, Perl, Haskell, Objective-C, Pascal, VB.NET, Clojure, Groovy).
The platform offers a single player mode where developers can keep track of results / progress and unlock achievements while multiplayer games allow them to program their own bot and compete against other gamers’ bots in a virtual arena.

Hundreds of tech companies such as Nintendo, eBay, Adobe, and Ubisoft regularly sponsor online coding contests and offer positions on the platform.
