Stockpile Raises $15M in Series A Funding

StockpileStockpile, a Palo Alto, CA-based fintech company that has created gift cards for stock, raised $15m in Series A funding round.

Backers included Ashton Kutcher, Sequoia Capital, through its Scout Seed Fund, and Mayfield.

Led by Avi Lele, founder and CEO, Stockpile allows people to purchase stock via gift cards, available at grocery stores and retailers, which can be redeemed for stock in favorite companies.
People choose the stock and dollar amount they want to give (e.g. $50 of Apple stock), tell Stockpile who the recipient is, and pay for purchase using a credit or debit card. The recipient will receive the gift card a few minutes later, and gets stock by clicking on a button in the email and logging into or signing up for a free Stockpile account.
