Signal Raises $1.4M in Funding

signallogoSignal, a London, UK-based media monitoring startup, raised $1.4m in funding.

The round was led by Alex Northcott, the original founder of Gorkana, the media database and monitoring service which was sold last year for over £200m, with participation from Frontline Ventures, Jon Moulton (founder of Better Capital), and Darren Shapland (chairman of Maplin and Poundland).

The company, which had raised a seed round of $1.85m in April 2015, is using the funds to continue to expand operations.

Led by David Benigson, Signal Media is a market intelligence and information discovery platform using predictive analytics to provide actionable, real-time intelligence, drawn from news, social media and other unstructured data, to allow clients to make better business decisions.
The platform currently monitors over 75,000 online news sources, 3.5 million blogs and 100 social networks.

Along with the funding from Alex Northcott, Signal is partnering with Northcott’s new business Roxhill Media.
