Mobile World Capital Barcelona Launches Startup Accelerator and Tech Transfer Arm

mwc-logoMobile World Capital Barcelona has launched an initiative to attract international talent and promote the creation of technology-based companies.

With support and collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, the City of Barcelona, the Regional Government of Catalonia, and the Fira de Barcelona convention facility, mVenturesBCN plans to create strategic business alliances with three international programs and bring them to Barcelona, where they are to accelerate 90 startups during the next 3 years.
mVentures will also partner with universities and research centres to convert technology assets into businesses. The “Technological Transfer Programme” will promote the creation of startups that generate new products and projects focused in research lines -algorithms, new devices, materials, etc- that could have a direct application in the markets.
The program aims to create 20 digitally-based companies, arising from the development of research lines at universities and R&D&I centres during the following 3 years.

The project, which will be up and running in November, will be led by Aleix Valls.
