The acquisition further expands Intertek’s portfolio of services in its Building & Construction line to support the building commissioning and building sciences markets, and extends its fenestration testing reach into the New York City metro area.
The company will integrate MT’s geotechnical evaluation services, materials testing, and special inspection capabilities, into its extensive service offering. The acquisition also builds on the purchase of Architectural Testing in 2013 to further extend its services to the construction phase of the building cycle.
Founded in 1980 by CEO Kevin Cosgrove, MT provides services to residential and commercial building projects including quality inspection of materials, geotechnical assessment of building vibration, and window and glazing fenestration testing. The company also supports large transportation-related governmental infrastructure projects principally for roads and bridges.
The deal allows MT Group, which employs a staff of over 100 professionals comprised of civil, structural, mechanical engineers and construction inspectors, to offer its services beyond the immediate New York City metro area, working with Intertek to bring its inspection services to more customers across the country and beyond.
