Flex Logix Technologies, Inc., a Mountain View, CA-based developer of patented FPGA-in-SoC technology, secured $7.4m in equity financing.
The round was led by Eclipse Ventures (formerly the Formation 8 hardware fund), with participation from founding investors Lux Capital and the Tate Family Trust. In conjunction with the funding, Shirish Sathaye of Formation 8 will join the Flex Logix board of directors.
The company intends to use the funds to expand its engineering and sales team, marketing efforts and other strategic initiatives.
Led by Geoff Tate, CEO, Dr. Cheng C. Wang, Dr. Fang-Li Yuan and UCLA professor of electrical engineering Dr. Dejan Markovic, Flex Logix licenses its patented EFLX technology, which enables FPGAs (field programmable gate arrays) to be embedded into SoCs (system-on-chip) for a wide array of applications and allow system designs to be updated after initial manufacture.
