Open-source veteran and former MongoDB CEO Max Schireson has joined venture capital firm Battery Ventures as an executive in residence.
At Battery, Schireson, who left MongoDB a year ago, will advise Battery’s cloud and big-data portfolio companies on strategic issues related to open source models. He will also help Battery identify promising big-data and open-source projects from industry and academia, and help incubate relevant companies at Battery.
Founded in 1983, Battery is a global, technology-focused firm making venture-capital and private equity investments from offices in Boston, Silicon Valley and Israel.
The company also offers portfolio support in areas including recruiting and human resources; marketing; scaling IT infrastructure and development; PR and communications; and business development, and operates an EIR Program to help companies develop new business ideas and grow newly acquired companies.
