i2 Capital Closes Series A Funding

i2i2 Capital, a specialty finance firm that sponsors structured investment vehicles for the impact investment marketplace, closed a series A funding round.

The terms of the funding were not disclosed.

The company intends to use the funds to grow the number of conservation banks in the U.S., and create new investment vehicles that support the education and energy sectors.

Led by Ashley Allen, founder and CEO, i2 Capital is a global merchant banking firm specializing in the emerging field of impact investing. With offices in Jackson Hole, New York and Washington, D.C., i2 sources and sponsors impact investment vehicles within its core focus areas of conservation, education and energy. i2 Capital Group, an affiliated broker-dealer, provides private placement and other financial services to high net worth individuals, foundations, institutional investors and companies.

In addition to the funding, the firm also announced that Jonathan Stearns and Rob Wallace will join as Partners, with Stearns serving as Chief Investment Officer and Wallace serving as Chief Government Affairs Officer.
Stearns has more than 20 years experience in private capital investments, with prior experience including serving as Managing Director of Pine Bridge Investments and AIG’s Global Investment Group.
Wallace served as Manager of U.S. Government Relations for GE Energy, where he co-chaired GE Energy’s Government Relations Operating Council, which coordinated the company’s global approach to policy and practice. Prior to that, he served as staff director for the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
