YourStory Media Pvt Ltd, a Bengaluru, India-based a media platform that covers the startup ecosystem in India, raised a venture capital funding round of undisclosed amount.
Backers included Kalaari Capital, Ratan Tata, T V Mohandas Pai and Qualcomm Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Vani Kola, co-founder and managing director of Kalaari Capital, joined the board of YourStory.
The company intends to use the funds to launch a new tech product that will publish original stories in Indian languages starting with Hindi, Telugu, Bangla, Kannada, Tamil and Marathi.
Led by Shradha Sharma, founder and CEO, YourStory operates YourStory.com, a platform that covers the startup ecosystem in India. It is a storytelling platform for entrepreneurs, innovators and change makers which has published over 20,000 stories of entrepreneurs since 2008. The company also operates HerStory, SocialStory, YS TV, YS Research and YS Pages, who have reached 60 million engaged readers in total, and has hosted over 220 events across YS Meetups, TechSparks, MobileSparks and SheSparks.
