Platform9 Secures $10M in Series B Funding

Platform9Platform9, a Sunnyvale, CA-based private cloud company, secured $10m in Series B funding.

The round was led by Menlo Ventures with participation from previous investor Redpoint Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Menlo Ventures General Partner Mark Siegel joined Redpoint Ventures Partner Scott Raney on Platform9’s board.

The company, which has now raised $14.5m in total, plans to use the funds to accelerate product roadmap.

Founded in 2013 by early VMware engineers Sirish Raghuram (CEO), Madhura Maskasky (VP Product), Roopak Parikh (VP Engineering) and Bich Le (Chief Architect), Platform9 provides a SaaS-based OpenStack powered service that transforms an organization’s existing servers into an AWS-like self-service private cloud, enabling small or large organizations to run their private clouds while leveraging latest open source innovations.
The service is available for KVM and VMware vSphere while support for Docker is in development with a beta to be announced later this year.
