BuzzFeed, the NYC-based technology-driven global media company, received a $200m equity investment from NBCUniversal.
As part of the investment, the companies will also explore strategic partnerships across both organizations in the coming months including collaborating on television content, movies, the Olympics, and joint partnerships with ad agencies and brands.
Led by Jonah Peretti, Founder and CEO, and Kenneth Lerer, Executive Chairman, BuzzFeed is a global media company that produces and distributes original news, entertainment and video. It reaches a global audience of over 200M monthly uniques and 1.5B monthly video views.
The company also signed an agreement with Yahoo! JAPAN to launch BuzzFeed Japan as a joint venture based in Tokyo.
