Viber Acquires Nextpeer

Nextpeer, a Tel Aviv, Israel-based provider of a multiplayer cross platform SDK, has been acquired by Viber.

The amount of the transaction was not disclosed. The acquisition came as part of its strategy to open up its connectivity and to create tools for developers.

Started in 2011, Nextpeer allows developers to build engagement through social in their games for iOS, Android and Unity. In-game experience, the company also offers additional features such as Facebook integration, a gaming news feed, leaderboards and user identity control.

Following the close of the transaction, Nextpeer’s SDK and services will remain available while future releases will be enhanced to utilize Viber’s social network and ecosystem.
