Seedrs Raises £10M in Series A Funding

seedrsSeedrs, a London, UK-based equity crowdfunding platform, raised £10m in Series A funding.

The round, which values Seedrs at £30m on a fully-diluted, post-money basis, was led by Woodford Patient Capital Trust plc and Augmentum Capital. In conjunction with the fundraising round, Tim Levene, Managing Partner of Augmentum, is joining the Seedrs Board of Directors.

The company intends to use the funds to expand its marketing efforts in the UK and Europe and platform development activities. We will also use the funds to expand into the United States following our acquisition of California-based Junction Investments, Inc., in late 2014.

In addition to the investment from WPCT and Augmentum, the compaly will conduct a £2.5m crowdfunding campaign to give existing shareholders and new investors the opportunity to participate. According to a note, the details of the crowdfunding campaign will be announced shortly.

Led by Jeff Lynn, CEO and co-founder, Seedrs allows investors to invest in growth-focused businesses.
The company recently added Andy Murray as an Advisory Board. At the end of 2014, it acquired Junction Investments, a California-based equity crowdfunding platform.
