Lea(R)n, a Raleigh, NC-based creator of an online resource for educators, called LearnTrials, closed a $800k seed funding round.
The round was led by Edovate Capital with participation from corporate investments from AT&T, Kaplan, and Techstars as well as edtech angel investors Gregg Burt, of California, and Walt Winshall and Jean Hammond of Boston. The IMAF-RTP also provided funding.
The company intends to use the funds to expand operations.
Lea(R)n equips educators and their organizations to know which learning technologies are best for their classrooms. Lea(R)n’s research-backed, online platform lets teachers discover, share experiences and ask questions on virtually any technology product on the education market.
The company is now working with public and private schools, districts and networks including a partnership with N.C. Department of Public Instruction.
