GoFundMe Raises Funding Round

gofundmeGoFundMe, a San Diego-based crowdfunding site for personal causes, received an additional funding round of undisclosed amount.

Backers included The Stripes Group, Technology Crossover Ventures, Accel Partners, Greylock Partners, ICONiQ Capital and Meritech.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations.

Founded in 2010 by Brad Damphousse and Andy Ballester and led by new CEO Rob Solomon, GoFundMe focuses on social giving. Since its founding in 2010, the company has helped its campaigners raise over $1.2 billion from over 13 million donors globally.

David Hahn, formerly Vice President of Product Management at LinkedIn, and Hoang Vuong, formerly Vice President & GM of Demandforce (Inuit), will also be joining the executive team.
