Snowflake Computing, a San Mateo, CA-based cloud data warehousing company, closed a $45 million Series C funding.
The round was led by global investment firm Altimeter Capital with participation from existing investors Redpoint Ventures, Sutter Hill Ventures and Wing Ventures.
The company, which has raised $71m to date, intends to use the funds to further innovate as well as accelerate customer and revenue growth. It is hiring.
Led by Bob Muglia, CEO, Snowflake has also announced general availability of the Snowflake Elastic Data WarehouseTM, a data warehouse designed specifically for the cloud. Built with a patent-pending new architecture, it aims to combine data warehousing, flexibility of big data platforms and cloud elasticity.
